L’Odissea riletta da un grande illustratore americano: un racconto vivissimo e attuale dove la più scrupolosa fedeltà all’antico poema omerico si accompagna a invenzioni grafiche mirabolanti. Se il coraggio di affrontare l’ignoto e l’astuzia tecnologica sono due famose doti di Odisseo, ecco che in queste pagine l’eroe del Cavallo di Troia si sposta con navicelle spaziali, aerei, razzi e altre fantastiche diavolerie. Eppure i personaggi sono sempre loro: i ciclopi, le sirene, i lotofagi, Penelope e i famelici Proci, e poi porcari, mendicanti, streghe e indovini, ninfe e ovviamente, sopra a tutti, gli dèi con le loro collere e i loro capricci.

Odisseo, scaraventato in un graphic novel, passa intrepido da una prova all’altra, più moderno e irridente che mai. Così, sulle tavole di un’epica reinventata, Chwast ci offre una liberissima ed esilarante interpretazione di uno dei testi fondativi della nostra tradizione culturale.
